All the news that's fit to print... and that doesn't take too long to write up.

| 8/23/02 | We've moved the website over to the 665.org location. Hooray for 665.org! No hard feelings for PCMSnet.org, but we hope that 665 will be better. | ||||||||||||||
| 8/02 | We will almost certainly be appearing on a compilation released by Turkey Vulture Records in the near future. More information will be available soon enough. Our choice for the comp is a previously-unreleased recording of Imprisoned In Flesh, both because we love it as a song and because it is the only tune we have that is under the three-minute mark, a criterion imposed by Turkey Vulture. | ||||||||||||||
| 6-8/02 | We're still trying to figure out what to do about the 32B album, stay tuned... | ||||||||||||||
| 5/29/02 | Once again, the band is on haitus for the Summer. But CAIN will be back soon enough... | ||||||||||||||
| 5/28/02 | Today, we bid goodbye to Christoph. It is time for him to return home to Germany, though we may see him again in the future (we certainly hope so). He will be missed. Meanwhile, the band is once again without a drummer - although we are aware of a few who would be willing to fill the role. | ||||||||||||||
| 5/26/02 | Having received a second highly unsatisfactory mix of our recording from 32B, we are starting to consider future recording options. | ||||||||||||||
| 5/3-5/02 | We have recorded a full-length album at Studio 32B in Germantown, New York. Though pressed for time, we were able to leave the session feeling confident in our work. After some editing and mixing, we hope to have a clear-sounding release to replace the If Your Set Yourself On Fire demo. | ||||||||||||||

| 4/27/02 | We play a show at the Red Room, in spite of the fact that Nate is unable to attend due to a family crisis. Instead of cancelling the show, as we thought we might, we switch spots with Ox and end up opening for them. We remember how much we love the Red Room, and vow to play there again. | ||||||||||||||
| 3/3/02 | Yesterday's concert went rather well considering that the sound crew was exhausted from George Clinton's earlier performance and accordingly did a half-assed job for us. Christoph has proved that he's just as good in the live environment as he is in practice. | ||||||||||||||
| 3/1/02 | The show with Desolate has been postponed for reasons that are complicated. On the bright side, though, we've arranged a show in Cambridge, MA with Stryk Nine and Neo-Messiah, among others. See the Concerts page for more. | ||||||||||||||
|
| |||||||||||||||
| |||||||||||||||
| 2/25/02 | Thanks to our friends in the band Desolate, we will be playing a show at CBGB's on March 15th. This makes us happy. | ||||||||||||||
| 2/17/02 | Today we recorded Anarchy Enthroned for an upcoming compilation entitled The End Of An Era. It was recorded in a one-take, without the virtue of overdubs, but it is nearly flawless. The song has been reworked significantly since the last time we performed it live, so those who remember it may be surprised to find that it is now approximately five minutes long. It is also the first song we have recorded with Christoph. The comp will be available shortly. | ||||||||||||||
| 2/10/02 | We've had several practices with our new drummer, Christoph Rühlmann, and things are progressing quite nicely. The band is sounding tighter than it has in a long time. Our upcoming show (The Old Gym, March 2nd) is going to be something to behold. | ||||||||||||||
| 2/4/02 | After a slow January, it appears we've got a new drummer. More information soon. | ||||||||||||||
| 1/02 | We write new material and modify some of our older work, continue looking for a drummer. | ||||||||||||||
| 1/3/02 | With CAIN moving slowly at the moment, Jon releases a second Golden Midget Blasphemy Machine / Kinma split-CD entitled A New Directive... | ||||||||||||||
|
| |||||||||||||||
| |||||||||||||||
| 12/01 | Tucker has opted to leave the band. It was understood from the outset that he was to be a temporary solution to our drummer problem, but we are sorry to see him go so soon. So we find ourselves going into the new year back on the drummer hunt. | ||||||||||||||
| 11/17/01 | Dartmouth show went fairly well, in spite of the odd venue we found ourselves playing in. The place looked like the Physics 101 lecture hall from countless films about kids in college. Seats on a dramatically descending slope leading up to a stage that even had a podium on it when we first showed up. Unusual. But we got some decent sound somehow. | ||||||||||||||
| 11/4/01 | The Dartmouth show is confirmed. We have no idea what to expect, except for the pizza that has been promised us. | ||||||||||||||
|
| |||||||||||||||
| |||||||||||||||
| 10/26/01 | We play the show with SPB. We're still bringing Tucker up to speed on the material, but overall the show goes well and we enjoy ourselves. We play Terminat with Dan to close the set. There should be a lot of pictures from this show - we figure it's about time we had some of those. | ||||||||||||||
| 10/20/01 | Show with S.P.B. announced; it will be Tucker's first. We feel he is ready enough to play in the live setting. | ||||||||||||||
| 9/30/01 | First practice with Tucker. His style of drumming is dramatically different from Dan's, and will give a different feel to some of the music. | ||||||||||||||
| 9/27/01 | After a rough week of searching for a replacement drummer, we speak with Tucker about joining the band. | ||||||||||||||
| 9/20/01 | Dan decides to quit the band so that he can devote more time to other projects. | ||||||||||||||
| 9/15/01 | We play a show in The MPR, during which we give fans T-shirts, copies of the demo, stickers, and Jagermeister. | ||||||||||||||
|
| |||||||||||||||
| |||||||||||||||
| 8/15/01 | We've had T-shirts made up; more information can be found on the merch page. | ||||||||||||||
| 8/5/01 | Jon has upgraded his equipment significantly with a Hartke 4x10 unit and an Ampeg 800-watt amp. Time to knock down some houses. | ||||||||||||||
| 7/01 | We send the demo to a variety of magazines and fanzines around the world; waiting for word on what they thought. | ||||||||||||||
| 6/7/01 | Demo is re-remastered, re-packaged and re-released. | ||||||||||||||
|
| |||||||||||||||
| |||||||||||||||
| 5/21/01 | Our first demo, entitled "If You Set Yourself On Fire The World Will Pay To Watch You Burn," is now complete and is available to anyone who wants a copy (email Jon). You can find more information in the newly-created Releases section. As promised, MP3's have been added to the website -- they're in the download area. | ||||||||||||||
| 5/17/01 | We should have an MP3 from our demo available here by next week. | ||||||||||||||
| 5/6/01 | We decide to play the Spring Fling show over the course of the day of the show itself; we hadn't planned on it but after speaking to some of the other bands playing there, we decided it was a good idea after all. Playing outdoors was an interesting change of pace. | ||||||||||||||
| 4/28/01 | Our show today goes great, though some confusion concerning our encore causes us to finish it about a quarter-way through. Adam's first show; he adds a whole new dimension to our sound. Confusion with openers and scheduling problems with the Old Gym cause the show to start very late. Not our fault. | ||||||||||||||
| 4/18/01 | Dan gets a new bass drum pedal; we will start recording tomorrow, and we mean it this time. | ||||||||||||||
| 4/16/01 | We start using our new logo, which is more legible than the original... somewhat. | ||||||||||||||
| 4/15/01 | CAIN has yet another new member; Adam Fletcher, who has already performed some tech functions for us, will be playing backup guitar at concerts from now on. We'll get a bio for him up soon enough. | ||||||||||||||
| 4/12/01 | We plan to start recording our professional demo, which will sound much better than our previous 4-track recordings. - Note: Due to the breakage of Dan's bass drum pedal, this actually did not happen. | ||||||||||||||
| 4/10/01 | The Guitar Seminar show was cancelled. It wasn't our fault. | ||||||||||||||
| 4/2/01 | Nate is now the proud owner of a bigass Mesa Boogie speaker system (note: bigass is a technical term). | ||||||||||||||
|
| |||||||||||||||
| |||||||||||||||
| 3/24/01 | Show in Red Room with Dubôk. We didn't play too great, altogether. Had tons of fun, though, and that's good. | ||||||||||||||
| 3/20/01 | Website goes up at PCMSNET location | ||||||||||||||
| 3/18/01 | Flyers for Mar. 24 show mysteriously disappearing from posted locations. Subject matter too offensive? Maybe you should be the judge. I know I don't think so. | ||||||||||||||
| 3/5/01 | Acoustic show. If you missed it, you'll probably never get another chance to see anything like it. Whether or not that's a bad thing has yet to be determined. | ||||||||||||||
| 3/1/01 | We play our first show with Tommy on keys. He kind of knows what he's doing already. | ||||||||||||||
| 2/23/01 | We play the Old Gym and more than a hundred people become experienced in the ways of CAIN. Our reviewer focuses upon our physical appearance rather than our music. | ||||||||||||||
| 2/17/01 | First show. Nate avoids vomiting. Tommy's dark-ambient/industrial set goes on for what feels like forever. We feel good about it, overall. | ||||||||||||||
